Decorative Works

A brilliant colourist, Delaunay was often called on to decorate townhouses like the Hôtel Pereire and the Hôtel de la Païva in Paris. It was hardly surprising, then, that his talents – his sweep and effective use of space – should also be applied to public buildings, among them the Palace of Compiègne, the Conseil d'Etat chamber, the High Court, the Pantheon and the Paris Opera.
